About This Course
This training provides therapists with a comprehensive understanding of Motivational Interviewing (MI) principles and their application in working with older adults. Participants will explore the essence of MI, learn recommended scripts and tools, and gain insights into eliciting change talk to foster motivation and facilitate meaningful transformations in older adult clients.
Key Learning Objectives:

Understanding Motivational Interviewing Principles: Classify various components of motivational interviewing principles, including the spirit of MI, in the context of therapeutic practice with older adults.

Eliciting Change Talk: Explore strategies to effectively elicit change talk and enhance motivation for positive behavioral change in older adult clients.

Practical Application: Illustrate the implementation of motivational interviewing techniques through real-world case studies and recommended scripts, enhancing proficiency in MI practice.
Course admission requirements:
Minimum of a Master's Degree in a mental health or related field; or be a student in social work, psychology, counseling, or a related field. In Low- and Middle-Income Countries, a minimum of a Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, counseling, or a related field is required.
